b. Agenda passed out by co-chair Janilee Mariano
II. About Adobt-A-School Program
a. Janilee Mariano explained what Adobt-A-School Program is about, which basically, we
need to do the following:
Choose a school
Media coverage prior/on/after
Recruit at least 1 member
b. The Hawaii Jaycees who has come up with the program would be of assistance in
guidance and the liaisons are Claire Bello from HFJCC and Sterling Seino from Rising
Phoenix and the state board.
III. Brainstorm
a. According to research, Janilee presented her idea of adopting Farrington, since they are
found to be one of the worst schools in the Honolulu complex. Since our name entitles
“Honolulu,” Janilee thought that we should help one department (Career Guidance) of
which she has a contact (Jeff Obanya) where they would need 30 of a particular book
named “The Pact” to help one classroom or 6 audio CDs of the “The Pact” to help the
entire department. Jeff Obanya also gave other ideas that would help their department
which were a computer projector or a digital visual presenter (aka Elmo).
b. Co-Chairs Melchor (JR) Aquino and Janilee opened the floor to brainstorm other ideas.
The following were suggested:
Donate books & send to the Philippines
Collect and donate supplies to give to a school (similar to the program, Lokahi)
