The general members of the Honolulu Filipino Jaycees meet every month, usually on the first Monday of the month.   The general membership meeting is a chance to plan and coordinate upcoming events and projects, asses past events and projects.  More importantly it is a great opportunity to network with fine young professionals (non-Filipinos included).  It is held at the Susanna Wesley Community center in Kalihi and usually begins at 6:30pm.

There is an agenda that is followed at the meeting.  The president presides over the meeting and steers the various addendums in an order.  First the financial position of the chapter is attended to where the treasurer reports financial statements for all to examine.  The five vice presidents then make known to the members the various standings of the affairs of their respective areas.  At anytime it is customary for all in attendance to introduce themselves-name, occupation, role in the chapter, and any whimsical questions that may be apropos at the time.  At anytime during the year, several projects and events have passed at the convening of the general meeting.  These old business are discussed and an oral report is given by the chair about the outcomes and community impact of the completed event.

If there are no guest speakers, the chapter then turns to proposed and outstanding events.  This is the time when volunteers are sought for various places in committees that are running events.  The process of coordinating and planning will have been afoot before the meeting and will continue after the general meeting has ended.  Past guest speakers have included former Hawaii Governor Ben Cayetano, Emme Tamimbang, and the leaders in the Filipino community-almost all of them.

The final part of the night, various announcements are made. Birthdays of members that are known and whose day fall in the month of the meeting is recognized.  After the president adjourns the meeting, the attendees are free to head to the refreshments and layabout and network with other members or guests.

A decision has been made to hold the meeting at a different venue for the months March, June, September and December.  The general membership meeting for these months will also be a social at a time and date not yet firmly set other than it will be held during the first week of these months.
