General Membership Meetings

The best way for prospective individuals to begin their membership is by attending a General Membership Meeting (GMM) where members and guests are able to learn about what's happening in the organization and to network.  Prominent and influential guest-speakers are occasionally scheduled to provide information and inspiration for members to create projects.  New members also have the option of attending a New Membership Orientation.

Heavy refreshments are provided and anyone is welcome!  See our Events page for upcoming GMM dates.

BEING ACTIVE

Although we encourage members to be active, achieving active status is not a requirement.  Some of the benefits to obtaining active status include:

  • Enabling you to advance in the Degrees of Jaycees Program
  • Acquiring valuable experience from participating in various projects and interacting with different people
  • Enhancing your resume when submitting to Junior Chamber supporters

To achieve active status, a member must meet a set amount of requirements in the following categories:

  • General Membership Meetings
  • Major Committees
  • Minor Committees
  • Recruitment
  • Service
  • Membership
  • Fundraising

WAIVERS

Individual requirements in any of the categories may be waived in place of meeting one or more waiver opportunities:

  • Recruited an additional member
  • Chaired a project
  • Member of the board
  • Being a 7-10th degree member
  • Member of the staff

These are granted by the president or authorized designee.
